Fred Oswald and John Allen had the use of the League’s mailing list only as a difficult to read paper roster in a format that did not allow of optical character recognition. The Board members who sent out the letter in support of Mark Terman had the use of the League’s mailing list in digital form, allowing computer addressing of the mass mailing, as shown on the envelope below.
The return address is that of Barbara Sturges, the Board member for Region 4
whose seat was contested by Fred Oswald and Mark Terman, but the mailing was
sent from "Southern MD 207" ZIP code — near the LAB office in
Washington, DC.
The notice about the election on the League’s Web site consisted of the following item in which only the Board’s endorsed candidates were mentioned. There was no mention of the other candidates anywhere on the Web site. The following was posted at Board of Directors and National Policies -> Elections to the Board (no longer available — was replaced by a report on election results)
